    Interpret SFC /scannow results

Since my computer is running very well at the moment, I assume those defective files aren't too important. On another thread someone advised that a future update may fix them. In any case, if I have future problems I may opt to perform a reset of the machine. I've done that in the past and it...

    Interpret SFC /scannow results

Thanks, Neemo. How do I get to that file? Never mind. I searched online.

    Interpret SFC /scannow results

I did run it as administrator. I've run SFC in the past and it usually either repaired files, or didn't find any needing repair.

    Interpret SFC /scannow results

At this time, my PC W10Pro). I decided to run system file checker and came up with this result: Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at windir\logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example...

    Task Bar Basically Dead

GOT IT FIXED! Finally, after much messing around, I was able to open"file explorer" I went to my C drive and scanned for errors. Was informed errors were found. I then elected to have the errors repaired and voila, the computer is back in shape. I don't know what caused the problem in the first...

    Task Bar Basically Dead

One more update: following a suggestion from another forum, I performed a hard shutdown/restart and now have the icons back on the task bar. However, I still can't launch anything from there. I can't reach the run box anymore, but can now reach task mgr. Is there any way I can use task mgr to...

    Task Bar Basically Dead

Sorry, neemo, pressing those keys does nothing. If there was only some way I could reinstall the OS (recovery, or reset), that would probably work. Before running out to buy a new computer, I'm also wondering if I could just get a W10 installation CD and use that? Sound feasible?

    Task Bar Basically Dead

unfortunately, Neemobeer, I can't access the run box as I did before by using winkey + R. Not working now. Perhaps time for an OS overhaul, if that can be accomplished under present conditions.

    Task Bar Basically Dead

If this means anything: The clock (time) is way off and can't be adjusted since clicking on it does nothing.

    Task Bar Basically Dead

I probably can't do that because I can't even access "settings". I noticed that I can access the run box by hitting Windows + R. Is there anything I can type there that may help? I've also noticed that now all the icons on the task bar have disappeared. I might try a reset of the computer, but...

    Task Bar Basically Dead

Toshiba Satellite L55-A5226, W10 Pro Problem just popped up today. I can't launch any program from the task bar. Clicking on the search box does nothing, neither does clicking on the Windows logo. I can launch programs from the desktop OK, and if I place a desktop item on the task bar, that...

    Windows 10 Windows Defender Good?

Hi, Fenway. I use MBAM free version for occasional scans. Premium is very good, too, if you wish to use that. I've found that premium isn't needed since Windows Defender is doing a good job. Of course, others may disagree but for the relatively low price of MBAM premium, I'm sure you'd be happy...

    Dual boot question

Does shrinking the Windows partition have any negative effect on the OS? If there is, I won't mess with dual boot. Thanks.

    Gmail loading changed

I use 2 Gmail accounts. Having no problem loading. Maybe clearing cache might help, just an educated guess.

Needed to Uninstall VPN to Access Internet

I'm also trying Proton VPN. It seems to be working OK and it's free.
